Trenton Park is by far the largest year-round nature based green space in Pictou County and for that matter, along the Northumberland Shore. With an ecologically diverse mix of flora and fauna, the park offers a variety of ecosystems including grassland, pond, marsh, swamp, and stream. Woodlands within park boundaries vary from early succession forest to mature hemlock stands and include combinations of both softwood and deciduous trees.
Trail development would provide controlled access to these areas while preserving this sanctuary for local wildlife populations. With proper planning and development, Trenton Park will be able to grow in a way that observes appropriate environmental stewardship while allowing it the opportunity to become an attractive eco-tourism destination.
